It's important to maintain contact with students who have completed YouthBuild in order to track their post-program success. The YouthBuild Global Affiliated Network requires that programs follow up with their successful exits for one year after their exit date. The Followup page only appears on the student menu when a student is first exited successfully. Unsuccessful Exits will not have a Followup page upon exiting the program.
What this means in DYB is that each quarter you'll be expected to update their placement status, court involvement and high school credential attainment. Each quarter, an issue will appear in DYB for students who require followup to be entered.
As you can see below, the Followup page appears on the student menu:
On the Followup page you'll be asked to verify a student's court involvement, credentials and placements based on your outreach and date you verified the information. If you're unable to get in contact with a student or verify information, you can mark that section as "unable to verify" with the date you attempted to contact the student.
Placement Follow Up
Successfully exited students must have their employment and/or education placement status verified each quarter. If a placement is still active, click Verify with the date you obtained verification. If you find that a placement ended, click End Placement and enter the placement end date or your closest approximation.
If the student still has no active placements during a follow up period, you should verify that they are not placed.
If a student has a new placement, click on the Placements page in the left side menu to add the job placement or education placement.
Criminal Justice Follow Up
When you communicate with the student, be sure to verify if they had any court involvement since you last spoke. Select that you verify that they still have not been court involved, or click Add Incident if they have become court involved.
You must also enter the date on which you contacted, or attempted unsuccessfully, to contact the student. If you are adding an incident you must select how they became involved and the date of their involvement.
High School Equivalency Follow Up
If a student exits your program without a diploma or high school equivalency, you will need to verify if they still do not have a credential or click Add HSE if they received the credential post-exit along with the date.
