Every year, YouthBuild Global compiles all the data from YouthBuild Affiliate programs around the country to get an idea of how the field is doing. We use this data for fundraising, advocacy and technical assistance. So all that data you’ve been entering into DYB about your students is really important! Here is how to check your 2014-15 Cohort Year data to make sure what you’ve submitted is accurate.
*Keep in mind that for the purposes of evaluation, YouthBuild Global defines the 2014-15 Cohort Year as students who have exited your YouthBuild program from October 1, 2014 through September 30, 2015.
1. Revisit Annual Survey Responses
Double check your responses in the Annual Survey. Your program would have done this during the October verification period. You can find it by clicking on Overview from the left side menu. Then under the Program Data Summary section, click on Annual Survey.
It’s just 4 short questions, make sure the info is right and nothing has changed for your program. If so, make updates and Save.
2. Look at Affiliated Network Performance Measures Filtered by Tag for 2014-15 Cohort Year
It's easy to swap out the tag on the AffNet Reports. Never done it before? Follow these instructions.
Click on Reports from the left-side menu. Then choose See all Affiliated Network Measures found underneath the four dials.
Now you see all 10 Affiliated Network Performance Standards, however, the default tag is set to the Cohort Year currently in progress, 2015-16. Let's change that to the 2014-15 Cohort instead.
To do this, click the X next to the grey tag Cohort: 2015-16.
Then click Filter Report by Tags to open the Tag Picker.
Type in 2014 in the search bar to find the tag we want. Find 2014-15 Cohort Year in the list and click +Add. Wait a few seconds as the dials refresh for the new set of data. Click Close Tag Picker.
Now we are looking at your program’s outcomes for the 2014-15 Cohort Year: students who have exited your program from October 1, 2014, to September 30, 2015.
Your job is to check each of these ten reports to make sure the data seems correct and that nothing seems fishy or incomplete. To do this, click View Details under each report dial.
This allows to you drill into each report and see the names of the students included in each metric and their corresponding outcomes. Be sure to roll your mouse over the black question mark in the upper right corner of each report for a refresher on how the measure is calculated.
Click on any student's name to view the student's data or even make a change. Click Back on your browser to return to the previous screen. (Yes, clicking Back is okay in DYB! It is designed to hold on to the information.)
